Mannequin transformation

These mannequins (from various manufacturers) were transformed by various means to create a more uniform and realistic appearance - grinding away cheekbones, resculpting features and hair with epoxy putty and energetically applying oil paints.

The final images are of a more involved transformation to create Hortense McKay, a Minnesota World War 2 Army nurse who rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel and was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal.

Modified for the Minnesota Military and Veterans Museum
