What's New?

Welcome!

I am often asked, “What are you working on these days?”

Well, it's proving to be a busy summer. Kathy-Jo Wargin's “Legend of Minnesota” is out and in the bookstores and people seem to like the paintings I did for the book. In fact, Kathy-Jo and I are working on two more children's picture books for Sleeping Bear Press. It's too early to give away the stories, but I think you'll be pleased.

As always, Historic Fort Snelling seems to dominate my life. When I'm not on site with my family in historic costume interpreting to visitors, I am at home in the studio working on one of the three Fort Snelling paintings that have to be completed over the next 4 or 5 weeks. The biggest, coming in at a hefty 3 x 5 feet, is going to my entry for the Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts Exhibit, and the deadline will be here pretty soon!

I am also finishing up the cover for Corinne Marz's upcoming book on the experiences of the Dakota Indians who were forcibly removed from Minnesota to reservations in Nebraska in the 1866. This is a follow-up to her heartbreaking story of the Dakota Internment Camp at Fort Snelling in 1862.

From July 1 to September 1, the Treaty Site History Center in St. Peter, Minnesota, will host an exhibit of my paintings for the Fort Ridgely Historic Site, as well as a handful of landscapes (which will be for sale). This is my first actual show, and at 42 years old it's about time! Stop by, check it out, and let me know what you think.

Those who are familiar with my old site will notice that we've changed a few things. Check back from time to time to see what else is new.

Enjoy the summer!
