What's New?

What's New
August 29th, 2009

Summer is coming to a close, but what a great one it was!

Battle Cry Book Tour
Pat and I signed books at Harpers Ferry, Gettysburg and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. The staff and the customer reception at each site was wonderful! We look forward to doing the same in two years, at the start of the Civil War sesquicentennial.

We also managed to visit Manassas, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Yorktown, Jamestown, Williamsburg, Washington, D.C.

Whew!

Hamline University class
For the 4th year, Pat and I co-taught a continuing education class for Hamline University, "Using Minnesota Historic Sites to Teach History". Our students, all teachers, were among the best we have ever had. They really seemed to enjoy each other's company, and we sure enjoyed theirs.

Sculpture
My “Abraham Lincoln” bust is still taking shape under the tutelage of Heidi Hoy at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts. He is cast in bronze, I am welding and grinding, and maybe I will have him finished in time for the Gettysburg Address in November.

A New Book!

I am about to work on a new picture book for Sleeping Bear Press. As always, there is a shroud of secrecy, but pay attention to my future posts . . .
