A quick update, then it's back to the drawing table. Literally.

Pat and I were at Red Balloon Bookshop on May 3rd, where we filled the place, signed books, and ate cake and hardtack. We love these folks!
IRA
Two days at the International Reading Association Convention in Minneapolis gave us an opportunity to spend time with teachers, librarians, authors and illustrators and sign even more copies of the new book.
School VisitsI have had the most rewarding experiences of my life at a number of great schools this year, including the fabulous Hastings, Minnesota school district. Students, teachers, librarians and lunch ladies . . . they all made me feel so welcome. I spent time in the classroom with art teachers in the Elroy school district in central Wisconsin and McKinley Elementary in Ham Lake Minnesota, where we drew sketches and even painted watercolor pictures. I even got drawings from some of the kids – my collection continues to grow!
Sculpture
I have been taking classes at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts, where the amazing Heidi Coy is teaching me how to cast my Abraham Lincoln sculpture in bronze.
I guess I am a sculptor. Who knew?
Coming up
Pat and I will head East in late June to promote our book. Perhaps we will run into you at Gettysburg!
